Forest Club Supports the Makiling Trekathon


 Join the Makiling Trekathon, a fun trekking and fun raising campaign, this 18 April 2010 at the UP Los Banos campus. Theevent is part of the 100th foundationanniversary of the College of Forestryand Natural Resources (CFNR) and the centenary of the establishment of MountMakiling Forest Reserve.

Makiling Trakathon aimsto enhance understanding and awareness about Mount Makiling -- its conservation statusand importance; and to raise funds for the rehabilitation of some eroded slopesand hiking trails that were damaged by the series of strong typhoons in thepast three years.

Theroute begins and ends at the Tamesis Hall (Admin. Bldg.), College of Forestryand Natural Resources, UPLB. The route follows the Mariang Makiling Trail tothe Makiling Rainforest Park(Station 8). Marshals and water stations will be installed along the route.

Therewill be two divisions:

 

  • 5K – CFNR Admin. to Mahogany plantation (Stn 4) & return
  • 10K – CFNR Admin. to Makiling Rainforest Park & return

 

Registrationfee is P300 per trekker, inclusive of t-shirt, certificate of participation,donation for Mount Makiling,and a chance to win special prizes.

Businessentities and organizations can participate by pledging a minimum of

PhP100per km for a registered trekker or by becoming event sponsors or partners.
